Project Description:
  • Low-rise apartment complex comprised of 11 buildings
  • Total units: 102
  • In operation since 2010
  • A partial flow of wastewater (20 L/s) is taken from a main sewer running outside the apartment buildings
  • 2x HUBER RoWin heat exchangers extract up to 210 kW of thermal energy from the wastewater
  • With heat pump COP of 5.0, we provide a heat output of approx. 260 kW

Wintower Building
Winterthur, Switzerland
Project Description:
  • 28 stories and 236,800 ft2 of refurbished office space
  • Swiss Minergie Quality (“SMQ”) label certification
  • Required to use minimum 70% renewable energy to receive SMQ
  • RoK4‐700 fine screen pumping station inserted in a shaft beside the sewer next to building (sewer flow rate is 50 L/s)
  • 2 RoWin BG 8 heat exchangers installed in building basement
Energy Savings
  • The system provides 480 kW of heating and 840 kW of cooling
  • Coefficient of performance (COP) is approximately 5-6
