Noventa Leadership Team
Dennis Fotinos - CEO
Dennis is a performance driven thought leader and entrepreneur with notable transformational achievements in the energy sector. In 1997, he initiated and led the corporate reorganization that created Enwave Energy Corporation, which he then led to sustained profitability and growth for almost twenty years as President and CEO. As an early adopter of ESG practices, he established the forward-thinking commercial strategy that brought Enwave’s capabilities to market through the development of innovative projects like Deep Lake Water Cooling. In 2018, he left the company to start Noventa Energy Partners as a platform for renewable energy innovation. In his early career, Dennis served as an elected member of regional and local governments in Toronto and as Director on several Boards including his current role on the Board of CreateTO.
Stephen Condie - CTO and Head of Operations
Stephen has over 20 years of experience in the energy sector. He began his career at Enwave Energy in 2003 as Project Manager, and went on to hold progressively senior positions, culminating in Vice President of Engineering and Innovation. At Enwave Stephen oversaw operations of the 250MW Deep Lake Water Cooling and 500MW Steam Heating District Energy System in Toronto. In 2011 he left to start Magnolia Generation, which specialized in life safety and sustained occupancy power solutions. Stephen oversees Noventa’s engineering team and coordinates the efforts of the company’s three business units and external consultants to ensure alignment.
Himanshu Sarin - CFO
A senior finance executive with expertise in Project Finance, Financial Planning & Analysis, Capital Raising, and Mergers & Acquisitions, Himanshu has led structured financing facilities with multiple bank consortiums in Canada, United States, Japan, and India, successfully closing deals totalling over $8 billion. Motivated to make the world a greener place, Himanshu started his career in the energy sector with the goal of having a positive impact on the environment. He worked his way up through the ranks, eventually leading the finance team at Grasshopper Energy, driving all financial planning and debt raising efforts, and pushing the company to have a larger global impact. Himanshu holds a B.Eng. in Computer Science, an MBA with a specialization in Finance, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his son and playing chess.
Edward Rubinstein - Vice President, Business Development
A proven leader in Environmental, Social and Governance strategy, Ed has been leading and developing environmental sustainability programs and teams for almost 25 years. Prior to joining Noventa, Ed leads the University Health Network’s award-winning Energy & Environment team, and was instrumental in spearheading numerous district energy, decarbonization, energy efficiency and sustainability projects. Ed’s work has been recognized with multiple awards including being honoured as a member of the 2018 Clean16. When not at work, Ed enjoys being physically active (hockey, running, biking), playing guitar, and travelling. Most of all, he enjoys doing those things with his family.
Victor Su - Group Controller
Along with his CFA and FRM designation, he is an undergraduate from the University of Waterloo and has his master's from Schulich School of Business, York University. A seasoned financial professional with international experience working in private equity and financial institutions, Victor is responsible for all project economic analysis, enterprise risk management, shareholder relations, and financial reporting. Victor has lived, grown, and worked in different countries throughout his career and loves working at Noventa because of the multicultural mix and the warm and friendly atmosphere. Victor enjoys travel, sports, and having his son participate.
Cam Quinn - Vice President, Project Delivery
Cam oversees all aspects of project delivery, ensuring successful execution from planning to completion. He is a licensed Professional Chemical Engineer with over thirteen years of experience in the energy industry and holds a master’s from the University of Cambridge. He previously worked for North West Redwater Partnership in Alberta and was involved from the conceptual design through to commercial operation of the 50,000 barrel-per-day Sturgeon Refinery. Cam is proud to be a part of a dedicated team of highly motivated individuals working to reduce our impact on our planet. Outside of work, Cam enjoys exploring the great outdoors.
Sejal Pradhan - Vice President, Engineering
Sejal is responsible for managing the engineering design stages from concept design up until handover for construction for Noventa's renewable energy projects across North America and the United Kingdom. She also actively supports Noventa's business development and customer engagement efforts. Sejal is an Electrical Engineer with a keen interest in clean energy technologies, energy efficiency and sustainability. She has a Master of Science degree in Renewable Energy Systems Technology from Loughborough University, UK and is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM®) accredited by the Association of Energy Engineers® (AEE®). Her past professional experience in the energy sector includes work in India, Italy, the UK and a role at Credit Suisse, Poland. In her free time, Sejal enjoys gardening, cooking and going on long walks with her dog Maple.
Shawn McLean - Operations Manager
Shawn has worked in the Mechanical Industry for 25 years with experience in air/water Balancing, Building Operations, Plumbing, Sheetmetal, Mechanical Design, Controls & Automation and Facilities Management. In 2004 he was the youngest to ever win the BOMA 5th Class Power Engineering - Building Operator of the Year award for the Alberta Region. Recognized for his work with Engineering start-ups, Shawn has more than 14 years experience managing facilities. He has a history of efficiently and effectively delivering products/services to clients, running complex operations, developing new processes, and innovating on existing processes. As a team leader, he’s known for building strong relationships, mentoring young engineers, and cultivating a positive, productive, and empowering work environment. Shawn is an avid outdoorsman, and particularly likes fishing and water skiing, especially with his dog, Rocco, by his side.
Alex Plant - Manager Environment, Social and Governance (ESG)
Alex is the Manager Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) at Noventa. Alex supports our team to align our business model with ESG frameworks and promote best practices, while ensuring streamlined processes across business units. She leverages a background in project management and accounting and holds a Master of Environmental Science degree and ESG Designation (ESG.D), both from the University of Toronto.
She is excited to be part of a team with a shared vision to build a more sustainable future. You can find her outside with her family skiing, biking, canoeing, and running.
Conrad Kwiatek - Engineered Equipment Sales Manager
Conrad is Engineered Equipment Sales Manager at Noventa and holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), where his thesis research focused specifically on Wastewater Energy. Conrad's responsibilities primarily include conceptualizing projects, developing energy models, designing systems, coordinating with contractors to develop capital estimates, engaging with stakeholders, and providing technical inputs to project financial models. He enjoys the unique challenges that come with developing meaningful renewable energy projects and working in a diverse team that wants to make a difference.
Arash Ebrahimi - Project Manager
Arash is a Project Manager at Noventa and provides our partners, general contractors, clients, and consultants with the information and documentation to push our projects toward completion. Arash holds a Bachelor of Technology in Construction Management from George Brown College. Arash ensures that Noventa's objectives and intentions are met in every discussion with Noventa's partners and always pushes to accelerate the decarbonization of our future. Outside of work, Arash believes in both physical and mental health. He enjoys watching and playing soccer and participating in other sports, as well as finding motivation in podcasts and audiobooks.
United Kingdom Team
Karl Drage - Country Head, England and Wales
Karl brings over 20 years of experience in the renewable heat industry. At GI Energy, he led the installation of some of the world's largest ground and water source heat pump systems, including the Mansfield Hospital, and London's One New Change schemes. Karl has delivered over 1000 renewable heat systems for all types of clients throughout the UK, Europe and North America. He pioneered the development of funded heat-pump business models. These went on to pave the way for the "heat as a service" concept, which he introduced in his 2019 TEDx Talk. He also brings expertise from the water industry, having led the non-reg growth team at Severn Trent Services.
He has a track record of leading multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholder teams. Karl has been instrumental in delivering large-scale, complex community heat projects. His work includes pioneering city-scale, ambient-loop, and fifth-generation heat networks. And, demonstrating the potential for renewable heat solutions on a broad scale. In 2022 CIBSE published his technical paper detailing the potential for 5th generation heat networks. At Kensa Heat Pumps, Karl successfully led a number of innovative bids for the Government Heat Pump Ready project. He was chair of the Ground Source Heat Pump Association, helping develop the standards now used for best industry practice.
Karl's team at Noventa is focused on developing low carbon heat networks, and the use of wastewater, across England and Wales.
Helen Smith - Business Development and Project Delivery Manager
Helen is a commercially focused seasoned executive in the energy and environment sector with experience developing and delivering innovative low carbon projects in the wastewater, organic recycling and renewables industries. She has held progressively senior positions where she has managed budgets, procurement and large grant funding applications. Helen is a chartered member of CIWEM (Chartered institution of Water and Environmental Management) and Society for the Environment. At Noventa Energy UK, Helen will oversee the company’s business development efforts in Scotland.
Outside work Helen enjoys spending time with her family, especially outdoors. She chairs the local Christmas lights group and volunteers as Cub Scout leader in her community.
Billy Imlah - Engineering Portfolio Manager
Billy has dedicated 16 years to the utilities industry in Scotland and has now left Scotland to join Noventa Canada. Billy has worked on several high-profile jobs such as construction 33kv substations for Aberdeen Exhibition Centre to large scale utility infrastructures for housing developments all over Scotland. Billy is a Portfolio Manager, managing the various stages of the engineering department’s tasks. Billy is proud and excited to be a part of Noventa and his experience with the Scottish market will be a huge addition to Noventa with our projects overseas. Outside of the office, Billy enjoys capturing the sun on the fairways as an avid golf player.
Engineering Team
Annie Coulter - Engineering Associate & Project Lead
Annie is Project Lead at Noventa. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from McGill University. She has done extensive work on campus bringing sustainability into engineering practices through groups like Student Energy at McGill and Sustainability in Engineering at McGill (SEAM). She has been an important part of Noventa’s innovative engineering team for the past three years contributing valuable research and insight during her summer internships. She’s excited to continue putting her technical training and passion for sustainable engineering into practice since returning to Noventa as Project Lead in January 2023.
Ben Somers - Engineering Associate & Project Lead
Ben is Engineering Associate at Noventa and holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from Queen's University and a Business Certificate from the Smith School of Business. As part of Noventa's engineering group, he contributes to renewable energy project design and energy modelling. Ben enjoys working at Noventa because he can find creative solutions to combat climate change and play an important role in designing projects that use innovative technology to decarbonize our future. Ben is an avid golfer and is spending most of his free times with his friends.
Erica Lee - Engineering Associate & Wastewater Specialist
As a Project Lead at Noventa, Erica leverages her extensive experience in the energy minerals, construction, transportation, and technology sectors to drive projects to fulfillment. With her Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Nanotechnology Engineering from the University of Waterloo, she has a deep understanding of innovative solutions that can enhance project efficiency. Erica is passionate about Noventa's mission to decarbonize our world through disruptive innovation and is committed to contributing to each project's success. She brings a keen eye for detail and a solution-oriented approach to each project, ensuring that all objectives are met within the given timeline and budget. Erica's expertise and dedication make her a valued member of Noventa’s team. Her work at Noventa is a testament to her commitment to building a more sustainable world. Outside of work, Erica loves to travel and explore new places.
Finance Team
Artur Galyamov - Corporate Finance Manager
A data-driven and detail-oriented financial analyst with over a decade of experience in financial modelling and analysis, Artur has worked with companies from around the world. He has managed multiple portfolios worth hundreds of millions, and has experience developing strategic financial plans, coordinating operations, and exercising financial oversight over corporate expenses. Artur has always had a passion for renewable and carbon-free energy projects. He began his career at KPMG where he focused on corporate finance, and later moved to ENI where he implemented their $1.2 billion decarbonization strategy. He later worked at Baikonyr Solar where he led negotiations to construct the largest solar power plant in the country, before moving to capital finance and eventually finding his passion at Noventa. Artur loves football, chess, and most of all, spending time with his children.
Yuki Kong - Accountant
A graduate of the prestigious Hong Kong University of Science and Technology with a major in Accounting and Information Systems, Yuki has more than 7 years experience in accounting and auditing. She began her career at KPMG as an auditor. After earning her CPA, she worked in a variety of fields including financial leasing and shipping before coming to Noventa. She brings her passion and knowledge for accounting with her to Noventa and is proud to be working to decarbonize our future. When not at work, she loves playing games and watching movies with her friends.
Business Development & Environment, Social & Governance Team
Jelena Garic - Business Development Coordinator
Jelena is Noventa Energy’s Business Development Coordinator, responsible for supporting the development and execution of our renewable energy projects. She comes from a strong consulting background, with building performance analyses experience in low energy and GHG emission design - energy modelling, building standards compliance and retrofit analysis. With a focus on integrating performance analyses into the building design process, she provides our project teams with the information necessary to make informed design decisions, facilitating a successful interdisciplinary design process. Jelena is a built environment enthusiast; she believes that we must reduce energy and GHG emissions to mitigate our impact on the environment. She has a Bachelor of Environmental Studies degree, Honours Co-operative Planning, Urban Design Specialization, from the University of Waterloo, a Master of Building Science degree from Toronto Metropolitan University, and she is a Certified Passive House Consultant. When not at work, Jelena enjoys unplugging in nature - skiing, skating, hiking, swimming. She also enjoys the ultimate comfort – food.
Roaha Muhammad - Sustainability Specialist
Roaha is the Sustainability Specialist at Noventa. She is a graduate from the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability at the University of Waterloo. Though their co-operative education program, Roaha has experience supporting clean energy projects and climate solutions in a variety of sectors. She leverages her transdisciplinary education and experience to ensure that Noventa’s operations align with a range sustainability targets and indicators. Roaha is passionate about climate action across all scales, which is further exemplified through her volunteer work as the Climate Justice Advisor at Carbon Conversations TO. In her free time, she enjoys walks in nature, photography, and getting lost in a good book.
Communications & Administrative Support
Angie Piedrahita - Executive Assistant to CEO
Angie is the Executive Assistant to Noventa’s CEO. She holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a Graduate Certificate in Public Relations and Corporate Communications. A former political advisor, Angie has more than five years of experience as a project coordinator, researcher, and analyst. While working to improve housing for those in need, she developed a profound passion for environmental protection and sustainable innovation, and she brings that dedication and intensity to protect our environment to Noventa. In her role as Executive Assistant, Angie is responsible for updating and improving Noventa’s internal processes, increasing Noventa’s brand visibility, and working closely with the CEO as he leads Noventa in its mission to decarbonization energy in North America, the UK, and beyond. Outside her professional endeavours, she is fluent in Spanish, finds joy on the squash court, and is an avid reader.
Devan Zdrenka - Communications Associate
Devan is the Communications Associate at Noventa, where she supports the Company’s international marketing initiatives and stakeholder relations. Her work includes promoting brand awareness through social media campaigns, impactful content, and effective advertising. She works closely with our industry partners to ensure timely and consistent messaging across our markets in North America and the UK. Originally from the UK, Devan moved to Toronto in 2022. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies and Screen Studies from Liverpool John Moores University. Outside of work, Devan has keen interests in fashion, interior design, and travel.
Happiness Team
Maple - Vice President of Happiness
Maple Syrup is Noventa Energy Partner’s Vice-President of Happiness. Born at Lakewood Ranch, Maple comes from a long line of happiness specialists. She started at Noventa when she was just a young pup, bringing her unique talent and skills as a Happiness Associate. She showed a clear talent for her role early on, developing multiple initiatives such as “Treats for Maple” and “Cuddle Therapy”. She has also shown strong leadership, taking on Noventa’s doorbell duties by keeping everyone informed when there’s a visitor.
When not at work, Maple enjoys going for long walks and eating Sejal’s food when she’s not paying attention.
